 Matthew 2:1-2

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?  We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.”

                I’ve been in love with stars for a long time. 

It is amazing therefore that I don’t look up at them more often than I do. 

One of the reasons, of course, is that in Miami we can’t see them all too well, all the city lights keep getting in the way. 

And by way of analogy, that is how it is with the Bethlehem star and all the people who don’t pay as much attention to it as once they did.  A lot of other lights and attractions keep getting in the way.

                Why else did we have frantic stampedes in stores, that actually injure people, so that some video game or plasma TV  could be bought, rather than a stampede to churches so a Savior could be worshipped? 

We all have only so much time, energy and effort…and eventually it all ends up being expended in the direction of what we think is most important.

                Later on, whenever later on takes place, with just how much enthusiasm and follow through will you accept the challenge of making the Christmas spirit a part of the entire year? 

Not just for a couple weeks at the end of each year, but a 365 day treat that will change you into a more loving, compassionate and caring human being. 

The Christmas spirit?  

It is serving ourselves to others as a heaping spoonful of kindness because we are addicted to the “thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” commandment.

                Now there's a gift that keeps on giving.
