Retreat not from your problem. Retreat toward prayer. There is a difference.
That is what Jesus did. For though He was the Son of God, He was also the Son of Man and He was subjected to the same emotions as we all are; being ignored - by the reigning church leaders, and surely sometimes being discouraged when his own disciples couldn’t always understand him.
And think how discouraged Noah must have sometimes gotten during the 120 years it took to build that ark. All those animals bellowing and squirming and squealing, and the local populace calling him a crazy man. And since nothing is ever built without hitting the thumb with a hammer, I’m sure he did that, too.
Finally, as predicted, the rains came, for 40 days and nights it rained. But he had done what God had told him to do and at last the sun came out.
So, even though you may not feel like it, make a thanksgiving list, otherwise you do nothing but get more discouraged. And above all else, don’t resign from life. You have a duty to yourself and those around you and certainly to your God, to persevere.
It isn’t about how difficult whatever is discouraging you is, that’s not the point.
Just don’t join the Fraternity of the Fatigued. Remember and believe what Philippians 4:13 tells
us, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. ”
I know this, I get excited when I meet someone who deserves to be in a “Rocky” movie. Someone who accepts the fact that life begins as a blank sheet of paper and that before the final writing there will be written a large collection of bright and shinning joys and darker days of sorrow. But come what may, they refuse to go down.
Just remember…
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are lows, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t dare quit.
When the funds are lows, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t dare quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he just stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow.
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worse, that you must not quit.

Indeed, let me close with this quote - “The business of heaven is operating on a divine schedule that is not altered by our impatience
And because repetition is often one of the best of teachers, let me repeat myself, “The business of heaven is operating on a divine schedule that is not altered by our impatience
