Would you better feel and understand the love of God? Then put your faith to song. Pull out your hymn book, if you can read
music and have had the wisdom to have a hymn book at home, or put on a
Christian CD and have a private sing along..
Combining such truth and music together at other places besides the
sanctuary really can produce little miracles with big results.
I’m not talking about whether you have a beautiful voice or perfect
pitch when you sing in the shower,
“O God our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the storm blast,
and our eternal home.”
Or in your car as you drive along
“Tis grace that brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me
home.”
Hymns about the big HIM and His eternal love. There really are so many CD’s out today with
both old favorite gospels hymns and newly written faith-songs that make
wonderful listening during the many hours of our days. Listen to the words - they will inspire you,
calm you, renew your faith; whatever is your need.
Have you ever considered having a kind of
an ongoing awareness program that will not let you pass by one of His
blessings, no matter how small, without a word of thanks?
My
wife brought home some lovely peaches this past week and I commented, “What
beautiful peaches.” Now that wasn’t a
profound thought, but it was an appreciative thought and I almost immediately
aimed it back toward God.
A gorgeous sunrise, an overwhelming
sunset – everyone can come up with generous gratitude for those, but train
yourself to appreciate the little things of life. The arrangement of shadows across a living
room floor, the intricate pattern of a fallen leaf. Two people obviously in love. It is a call to have an ongoing training
program entitled COUNTING YOUR BLESSINGS WITHOUT A CALCULATOR.
