As our scripture reads “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
What shall you be called if you are a Peace-breaker?
Well, Proverbs 14:17 gives a pretty good reason to be a Peacemaker rather than Peacebreaker … "A quick-tempered man does foolish things." And who wants to be called an angry fool?
With such careless ease we say, “I lost my temper.” But have you ever stopped to think of the implications behind that phrase. Lose it often enough and the results can be disastrous; for that is the way people lose their spouses and jobs and health and opportunities and...the list is long.
Some very educated people claim that venting our anger, in controlled circumstances of course, is a satisfactory method to finding and keeping our “cool.” But I tend to agree more with Neil Warren, who in his book, “Make Anger Your Ally,” suggests that people ought to sit down and think about the things that make them angry, and then write them down. Certainly not act them out.
Read what you’ve written once a week for six months and during that time, keep asking yourself these probing questions: “Do I enjoy getting angry? Do I actually enjoy intimidating people?”
And if you get what you want, there is another question you must seriously ask yourself: But at what a cost? At what a cost!
If you’re thinking six months for at least some improvement! That’s too long a time – Do this...and you'll dilly and dally until your vow or your dream or your goal or your mission will have died from unuse.
You should want results sooner than that! No, that is not too long a time, for most of our bad, angry habits took a long time growing and they will probably take a long time to shrink.
One thing is for sure, if you are an angry person and you don't, or won't, admit it, you certainly are not going to do anything about it to improve.
