Without a vision we perish…so
prepare for a vision.
Imagine yourself committed to a
time-fulfilling accomplishment. Keep
your eyes open to recognize when an opportunity presents itself, then chose to
do it, whatever it is, and believe you can do it. And then actually do it.
Follow through and follow up. Teddy Roosevelt said, “If I am going to fail,
I am going to fail while daring.”
It’s called the pleasure of
purpose. The satisfaction of knowing
that you have sowed some seeds of deeds dreamed of and followed through on…
You don’t have to move a mountain but you can certainly raise a mound.
There is nothing wrong with seeking and
finding a degree of comfort in life but not at the cost of self-centered, lazy
selfishness. Ask yourself, and ask it
often, What have I done that I believe in and am proud of? .
Dwight L Moody, the famous evangelist said it, and it
cannot be repeated too often, “I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do
something. And that which I can do, by the grace of God, I will do.”
At
a church camp, the speaker was talking about how God has a purpose for
everything in His creation. He explained
that there were reasons for dirt, wind,
trees, animals, even cockroaches. One of the children raised his hand to ask a
question, “If everything God made has a purpose, why did He make poison ivy?”
That really stumped
the speaker till one of the children made a suggestion, “God made poison ivy
because He wanted us to know that there are some things we should keep our
grubby little hands off.”
When we propose to ourselves to
do something wrong, we need to have prayed enough and thought enough about the
consequences to have the good sense to keep our grubby little hands off of some
wrong purposes in life.
